Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Stop engine and rotor
   • Wind conditions are assessed and appropriate allowances made
   • Helicopter is positioned with a view to safety and rotor clearance when stopping engine and rotors
   • Engine shutdown and rotor stop are performed
   • Disc/rotor position is controlled during shutdown
   • Engine and transmission system indications are monitored and managed
2. Start engine and rotor
   • Helicopter is positioned with a view to safety and rotor clearance when starting engine and rotors
3. Wind conditions are assessed for start
4. Pre-start checklist actions are performed
5. Engine start and rotor engagement are performed
6. Disc/rotor position is controlled during start
7. Engine is operated within aircraft limits
8. Emergencies are managed
   • Wind conditions are assessed and appropriate allowances made
9. Helicopter is positioned with a view to safety and rotor clearance when stopping engine and rotors
10. Engine shutdown and rotor stop are performed
11. Disc/rotor position is controlled during shutdown
12. Engine and transmission system indications are monitored and managed
13. Control main rotor disc and anti-torque system
    • Main rotor disc attitude is maintained during all rotor speed (RRPM) operations
14. Anti-torque pedals are set to compensate for main rotor torque
15. Rotor disc attitude and RRPM are managed while performing other tasks or actions
